Ever wondered what
each team is or when and where they compete. Check out these
brief insights in to each of the teams and learn more about the
club.
1st XI - Saturday and Sunday
The Saturday 1st XI is considered the best XI in the club. They
compete in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League Division 1,
the top league in the SHCL, one below the Home Counties Premier
League set up. This is the main focus of the season. The Saracens
Hertfordshire Cricket League can be viewed at www.hertsleague.co.uk
The 1st XI also compete in the County cup and the Evening Standard trophy,
these competitions take place on Sundays.
As well as the County and Evening Standard competitions.
There are a number of high standard friendly matches played as well.

2nd XI - Saturday
The Saturday 2nd
XI also compete in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket league, in
division 6. The 2nd XI were runners-up in their league in 1999,
before the league structure was changed in 2000.
The 2nd XI also compete in a local 20 over competition 'The Geddings
Evening League' in which they also play local sides, including Hoddesdon
and Hertford 2nd XI's.
The Sunday 2nd XI is played in a more relaxed atmosphere. They play
in friendly matches and include both the younger and older playing
members of the club. The 2nd XI have some good, long standing fixtures
which they play in every season.

3rd XI - Saturday
The 3rd XI play in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, in division
11. The 3rd XI is made up of some of the older and more experienced
members still playing league cricket and some of the up and coming
youngsters, who are products of the colts section.

Academy XI - Sunday
The Academy XI has been developed to take the place of the Sunday 2nd XI. It is designed to allow the promising young cricketers at the club to play in a more relaxed, but competitive atmosphere, accompanied by some senior playing members to help encourage them to develop their games. The Academy XI will play in friendly matches though out the summer and will fulfil the good, long standing fixtures which have been built up over the years. |
